A good day off.

It was again  a normal day but a GREAT day as well.

Don, Darrell and myself got phase one of the equine patio completed! I am so ... excited.

Life is going forward... I learned SO much about laying these things by hand, and almost got it really going on fast by the end of phase one.

NOW I have to save my money again, purchase 6 more pallets of pavers and get started on phase two.

In the mean time! I plan to get my new hose extender that is going to be industrial strength

Close up and cover the insilation box for the water hose. 

Create an insulated LID for the horse water, as well as an insulated box for it!

Not to forget I have to put up the forest fence again.

Put up a fire wood shed! 

Get some trees cut down and out of the way (put onto the west wall )

My "diet" went out the door today as I was with the guys all day. 

cream in my coffee...  a muffin (regular) for breakfast... and yes... a SANDWICH for (1\2 of one) for lunch.  I gave the other half to the hubby... 

Pumpkin seeds for dinner (Jerry had carved a pumpkin for his mother)  

All is as it should be.... and I'm happy.

Signing off, want to get in some good sleep so I can ride in the morning...

lots on my to do list today...

Two extra birds in my house.... I so enjoy them!  I welcome the laughs from their mono log rattle morning and night. If you have never been around a talking bird it is such a laugh!

Three extra horses to tend to today... one needing medical attention four times a day.  It is all about scheduling, and being back at the right place at the right time today!

I love the fact I can pull in a little extra money doing things I really enjoy.
Yep...
Bringing in horses, making sure water, feed, hay, medical needs are all met ... mucking, skipping, and stripping stalls is enjoyable to some of us.  A psychological zone that pays me instead of me forking out money for a therapist is incredible.

Around here most barns have a wonderful view, and this place is no exception.

To Do List for the day!

Major shipping today... Our newest item was just released to a private waiting list.  ( I hate these days... ) So my living room is full of boxes, can't get to my front door with out stacking boxes out of the way.  

Smaller boxes are in my office up stairs so I have to do the shipping on them and carry them down my deadly (not to code on angles) staircase.  Jerry has put some wonderful grips on them but never fails! I fall all the time.  Can't wait till I get even older!... 

I've got my two kids this morning, then to the B&B, do breakfast... small numbers today, but many rooms to clean... THREE horses mid day, skip, feed, and check on illnesses... Cat mid day... SHOWER... then back to B&B for more cleaning... To my horses, ride Navarre up the mountain.. THREE horses for evening, put out,  clean stalls, and prep for next morning... 

It will be past dark before I get home from all my work today BUT the time with horses is like getting paid for play time.  While it is physically demanding, requires I respect my schedule,  I have chosen something that keeps me in shape, I get to see the sun rise and set with my favorite smell, I get to experience the morning due and the evening fogs roll in. 

HORSES... who could ask for much more?   making a little money off your passion THAT my friends is what I call life! 

Nothing, but my brain in tired.

I have done little to be so tired but I am not sleeping well due to the sounds around me at night.  It is all starting to add up.

I have merely dragged tree trunks, limbs out of the way for building the barn this morning.  and NOT by hand by a log chain and the truck, dragging them to the middle of the field to dry and burn.

I have worked up only a few packages, few international shippings and quotes, taken care of the horses, birds and eaten a bowl of cereal.  But I am ready to take a nap.

I have wood to go get as soon as I can get out of the office.

I need to reserve/rent a site level? er???
I need to check on the concrete for sunday, figure out how many bags,
Get the water container back in the truck AFTER unloading all the wood above.
Get the container full again... Strap it down for safety!  I've dented the truck bed with it already!  Mountain roads... and the weight of the water!  you just gotta laugh...

I need to clean the house, bird cages, and stalls
I need to spray the pasture with broad leaf spray.
I need to spray the cleaned area under the trees with DEATH.. round up... ha ha ha...
I need to find some one who can get the gravely started... I desperately need it but can't get it started at all.
I need to get the harness from the ferrier he said he would give me, and have Navarre drag some of the trees into piles.
I need to go mark more trees so Karl will cut them down for me.
I need to go have the chain for the chain saw sharpened... i got a new one this morning but I need the old one sharpened so it will be easier on the saw, but had to have one while other out of commission.

I need all this done in the next 24 48 hours... do you think it will happen NO NO NO>>>> but this is my reference list. 

I'll let you know how it goes/ went later.

I have taken the day off.
This may very well be the first day in months I have not been to the estate.

There has been much work done, and more to be done this week, but I am in need of a rest. 

While I had planned on taking yesterday off to ride, rain, wind and general weather stopped me, then a nice person offered to get the large rock out of our way so we could get the rest of the barn up next Sunday.

If anyone reading this wants to do hard labor... just show up Sunday! We are planning to put the 6x6x20's in the ground, shoot the area level, get the band up and some of the rafters.

I have not taken the horses over today and hope not to.  I don't want them running on a wet pasture with new grass and the rest of the good grass eaten down.  I will take them over tomorrow and lock them in their little pen. 


My list for the week...
Hook up the last of the electric fencing, and make it hot.
Paint off the end of the 20 footers and have them dry to be set by next Sunday.
Fence off three little pastures and spray two out of three of them with poison for broad leaf issues.
Plant grass in the shaded areas already fenced off
Get water and feeders set up in the pen.
Spray the rosabunda???? wild rose bushes that are a pain the the tuckus....
Start the research on replacement trees, as a nice little area of the property is now been ridden of the horrible poplar trees growing like weeds... I have left several GOOD size poplars but... wish to start the replacement process with real trees that belong in the area and will be beautiful to walk, eat, and live under.

Back on Track, but stopped by the rain.

Yesterday was such a perfect day!

I got the fence down,
got the mud dug out of the dry lot
Got Road Bond put back in...
     Repaired a rut going down to the pasture.
    Got a good drainage ditch dug around the fence
Got Sand/silt/screaning.... what ever you want to call it... put back in MOST of the dry lot.

We worked all day... stopping only 30 minutes for lunch, and then had to stop at dark.
I got my truck fully unloaded, filled back up, unloaded again
Got the mats out of the barn area... all but two that I will need till I get my barn/shed up on my place...
I also got 25 more bails of hay, loaded and unloaded.
Got the poles set in concrete for the fence to go back up.
     Got the poles measured correctly in hopes of using the boards that were not broken or chewed by the horses.
I got more rails from my place to replace the broken/ chewed ones anyway...

I still have about a 10 x 25 foot area that needs more road bond and sand... but I am VERY happy with all I did yesterday.  Considering road bond was put down with the backhoe, but all the fine tuning was by hand and ALL the sand was spread by hand....

while the fence was still down at 8 am this morning and the horses spent the night in the pasture... something I never allow.  I got over there by 8am and tacked up some boards to keep them in BUT not any good boards, as it is raining, soggy and I am not willing to use what little electric/battery operated tools I have in the rain.

As it looks Tuesday will be my next day to get the fencing up perfectly.  I can not wait.

Joe and Steve seem to be happy with all my hard labor to their place.  I am happy that it looks so much better and more functional for them, me and a new buyer if life allows.

I will have to take pictures when I get DONE. 

I sit here and all I can do is laugh!

While I tend to stay active... you have to remember I do sit at a desk typing, talking and shipping all day.  Yesterday!!!!! oh my I sat down four times.  lunch, travel to get concrete (old bag set up due to all the humidity we had this year) travel to get hay ( not three miles) and one more time I made EVERYONE stop, sit and relax a minute....

My body hurt so bad last night I had to turn on the electric blanket just to relax enough to go to sleep, every time I turned it off the pain awakened me not thirty minutes later.  

It hurts to breathe... much less move... But this is the kind of HURT I welcome.  I did it!  I got it all done, know more about how I want my place done.  And now I know I CAN DO IT ! ... accomplishing all the updates at Joes only makes me more sure of my decessions at my place, for me, for the horses, and for building sheds, barns, gates, and arbors... I am a VERY happy person today.

The pictures have NOTHING to do with yesterday... but spring is comming and I am enjoying what spring has given me in the past. These are two types of lavender I have in one of my gardens.  LIFE IS GOOD
